Well done to the Spelthorne Archers who took part in the Windsor at Windsor competiton on 8th June 2025 hosted by Windsor Forest Bowmen.

Sergey Zaporozhtsev won 1st place in the Gents Longbow Windsor. Sergey also claimed a new club Open Record with a score of 573 which is a great achievement.

Since taking up Longbow, Sergey has gone from strength to strength and is a great example of what can be achieved in the first 2 years of shooting.

Our club open tournament, the George Potts Memorial Tournament, took place on Sunday 7th June 2025 at Meadhurst Club, Sunbury.

The event was a record status shoot with a variety of rounds from St George down to Windsor 30. 54 archers from 17 different clubs took part in the competition.

We had a great showing across all bow categories which made for an enjoyable tournament.

The forecasted rain held off until the very last end which necessitated a fair bit of drying out the next day!

Thank you to everyone who attended, thanks to all who organised the tournament and set up the field. Thanks also to the judges, field party and volunteers who helped the day run smoothly.

Medals were awarded for archers shooting the round appropriate to their age group.

Congratulations to the Spelthorne Archers who took part in the GOA St George’s Day Shoot held on 5th May 2025 at Greenwood Osterley Archers.

It was a good result for the club with Kelly Taylor, Mike Vickery and Richard Taylor taking 1st place in their respective categories for the Recurve Windsor 50. Martin Twycross also took 1st place in the 50+ category for Gents Barebow Windsor 50, and Pascale Johnson came 3rd in the Gents 50+ Recurve Albion. Alan Bridges (not shown) also came 3rd in the Gents 50+ Compound Albion.

Well done to all Spelthorne Archers who took part and represented the club.

As an added bonus, shooting was temporarily stopped as we had a fabulous view of all of the aircraft taking part in the VE Day Flypast, as they flew over the field.

To mark the start of the outdoor Season, the club Opening Shoot took place on Easter Monday 21st April 2025.

34 archers took part in the shoot on Easter Monday, with opportunities for any archer to win prizes with random mystery scores for each lane, prizes for the best gold and the worst white and a handicap competition for Spelthorne members.

The rounds shot varied from a National 30 (4 dozen at 30yds and 2 dozen at 20yds) through to a National 60 (4 dozen at 60yds and 2 dozen at 50yds). We had a great showing across all bow categories which made for an enjoyable afternoon.

Thank you to everyone who attended from Spelthorne, Laleham, Richmond and Atkins. We look forward to welcoming you back soon.

For the handicap competition, Kelly Taylor shooting Recurve won the Reg Dorling Cup. Well done Kelly!

Well done to the Spelthorne Archers who took part in the Richmond Pagoda Shoot on 13th April 2025 at the Royal Richmond Archery Club.

It was a good showing for the club with club Chairman Mike Parvess winning 1st place in the Gents Compund Albion and Sergey Zaporozhtsev winning 1st place in the Gents Longbow Windsor. Sergey also claimed a new club Open Record with a score of 557.

Club Secretary Joyce Denny won 3rd place on the Ladies Longbow. Well done to all Spelthorne Archers taking part.

The club held it’s Indoor Club Championship on 23rd March 2025, marking the close of the indoor season.

Shooting Portsmouth rounds, we had a good showing across a variety of disciplines, with strong competition in the Men’s Recurve and Compound categories.
