Learn to Shoot on one of our group beginners’ courses – start a new sport here

Our taster sessions and beginner courses are a relaxed, fun and safe way to experience archery. Our courses are designed not only so you can try archery as a hobby but also offer participants the ability to join our club and be part of a rewarding family-friendly sport.

During 2022 – we will hold at least 4 beginners courses starting in April.
These courses take place at our outdoor range and are limited to 12
participants so if you are potentially interested then contact the training
officer (see below) to discuss your personal requirements and reserve a
place on one of the courses.

If after completing the training sessions, you feel you would like to take up archery and join the club, we will provide an extra one-week informative training session, to ensure that you are familiar with all the club rules and procedures for using the range and equipment safely. (£10 for the additional week). This amount will then be deducted from the joining fee when you become a full Spelthorne Archers member.

All our coaches and course assistants are experienced archers who can help beginner archers to advance at a comfortable pace and get the most from their experience. Our coaches and assistants are DBS checked and meet Archery GB’s best practice guidance for safeguarding and training. For this reason, all children and young persons under 18 are accompanied by a parent or guardian throughout any course.
